Our hearts beat for
materials
Clothing should form a protective shell for newborn babies. The choice of material has an influence on his well-being. Does it feel the moisture when something spills? Does it scratch or itch somewhere because perhaps bacteria accumulate through sweating? This can also be due to synthetic fibers. You should avoid that. Nature offers real treasures that help your newborn child to feel good. Natural materials such as cotton, silk, sheep's wool, alpaca and cashmere promote health and development.

Wool
Skin-friendly and the all-star in summer or winter
When talking about wool when talking about materials, a distinction is made between new wool and merino wool. Merino wool is a particularly high-quality form of (new) wool. It is obtained from Merino sheep and is characterized by its special fineness and softness. Wool is a natural product and comes primarily from sheep. The term "pure new wool" in this context means that the material is made from 100 percent new (not recycled) wool that comes from living animals. Like all animal fibers, wool fiber consists of keratin, i.e. fibrous proteins that also form human hair and nails.
No other fibre, whether synthetic or of natural origin, combines as many positive properties as new wool:
Wool can absorb water vapor inside the fiber, but the surface repels water. It can absorb up to a third of its dry weight in water without feeling damp. In addition, it wicks moisture away from the body much faster than e.g. e.g. cotton. Wool insulates well against both cold and heat. It adapts to the shape of the body, is dirt-repellent and has a temperature-regulating effect. Wool doesn't stink (even after wearing it for a long time) and therefore needs to be washed less often. It cools through evaporative cooling in warm temperatures and also warms when it is damp (actively generates heat when it absorbs moisture) and keeps its shape and hardly creases. Wool is flame retardant (unlike other fibers such as synthetics), has a natural SPF of up to 50 (depending on density and weave), does not charge static (unlike synthetic materials) and most importantly, is biodegradable.
When selecting our wool products, we make sure that our suppliers are GOTS-certified. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognized as the world's leading standard for the processing of textiles made from organically produced natural fibers. It defines environmental requirements along the entire textile production chain at a high level and at the same time demands compliance with social criteria. Furthermore, we attach particular importance to kbT (controlled organic animal husbandry) This is not primarily about the pastures, but about the treatment of the animals themselves.
When it comes to wool, you should always follow the care instructions on the wash label, as there are differences depending on the quality of the wool.
Both types of wool (merino and new wool) have self-cleaning properties, which is why it is often sufficient to air the garments. If there is visible soiling, you can wash the area by hand in cold water without rubbing it too much.
If you want to wash wool, it is important to note that wool has a high fat content of its own and needs it to retain its properties. Therefore, wool should not be left in the water for a long time. Be careful not to wring the garment as it may deform. Better: roll it up briefly in a towel and lay it flat on a new towel on the drying rack to dry, but not in the sun or on the radiator! Tip: Use burp cloths as protection when you are breastfeeding your baby, later use bibs when your baby eats his porridge. This way you avoid food getting stuck in the fibers and additional washing.

Wool & Silk
The all-rounder
Wool & silk is an almost magical material that combines the best properties of both raw materials. It is a well-known and popular fabric, especially for baby clothing, but wool and silk clothing is also becoming more and more popular in sports and outdoor areas.
Wool & silk adapts to almost every situation and every temperature. In winter and when it's cold, wool warms you up. In summer and during physical exertion, the silk cools and the wool wicks excess heat to the outside. In addition, the body is better protected from UV radiation when exposed to the sun than with conventional cotton clothing.
