TOG value
Everything You Need to Know About TOG in Baby Sleeping Bags
The TOG (Thermal Overall Grade) unit is essential knowledge for new parents. But what does TOG actually mean? It's simple: it's a unit of measurement that assesses the thermal resistance of textiles. A higher TOG value means a warmer sleeping bag for your baby.
The optimal room temperature for baby sleep ranges between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius. Especially for babies up to 9-12 months old, we recommend sleeping bags with long arms. These provide additional protection against the cold and ensure a peaceful night's sleep.
But, be cautious! The TOG value is just a guideline. Every baby is unique and perceives warmth differently. That's why it's important to feel the back of your baby's neck approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours after they have fallen asleep. Does it feel comfortably warm? Then everything is perfect!
Here's another tip: The thickness of the fabric isn't always an indicator of its warmth. The material itself plays a crucial role. This is where the superiority of wool becomes evident. With its temperature-regulating and moisture-wicking properties, it's ideal for baby sleeping bags.
