Babybox Collection
Wool & Silk Pajamas
FAQ
For newborns, we recommend size 50 from our collection. Our pajamas are long and slim, just right for your little ones. The size 56/62 is still significantly too large for a newborn.
You can buy many things in a larger size for growth, but I advise against doing this with pajamas or generally with your baby's underwear (onesie, wraparound bodysuit, pajama). The more air pockets there are between your child and their clothing, the more energy your child will have to expend to warm these air pockets. Therefore, it is generally not recommended to buy underwear in a larger size.
Wool & silk is an ultimate all-rounder among materials, thanks to its many properties it is one of the best materials for your baby. Wool & silk is also the perfect material for summer. It warms when your child needs warmth and cools when it gets too warm. Wool & silk is antibacterial and dirt-repellent. We especially love the property that this material absorbs moisture more efficiently and better, transports it away from the body, and dries significantly faster than, for example, cotton. This ensures that even babies who can already sweat remain comfortably warm and do not get too cool, especially when they are a bit sweaty in the evening while winding down.
Since our motto is 'Less is more, but the right thing,' we recommend starting with the minimum because, based on our experience with our six children, it simply doesn't take much. Whether it's a newborn or a toddler, two pajamas are sufficient. Just see how you get on with them. You can always get more if needed. Since wool & silk are self-cleaning, it's often enough to hang the clothes out in the fresh air during the day. Wool does not pick up odors quickly and is therefore easy to care for.
Absolutely. We recommend washing the pajamas at 30-40 degrees on the delicate cycle. Using a laundry bag is always beneficial to protect the fibers and prevent them from getting caught in other clothing. Always use a good wool detergent from the organic store, and add lanolin every second or third wash. The natural lanolin replenishes the wool fiber with natural wool fat, which it loses during washing. This helps the material maintain its softness, but most importantly, its properties.
Wool & Silk
Our recommendation to always read the care instructions in the respective garments, the special composition of the manufacturer and the origin of the materials often require individual care.
Basically, you should use a laundry bag for your wool laundry, this reduces the friction on the washing machine drum and thus the risk of felting. Textiles made of wool/silk do not get dirty as quickly as cotton textiles, it is usually sufficient to air the textiles and only wash them when they are really dirty.
Always wash wool & silk on the wool cycle and make sure that the setting uses cold water, not 30 degrees. Basically, the older the washing machine is, the worse the wool program is, which can lead to problems. Also pay attention to the spin speed, it should be greatly reduced and no final spin should be set.
You should also use a high-quality, organic wool detergent and not a conventional one. Dry your woolen laundry lying on a towel and carefully pull it into shape after washing. Please never let your woolen clothes dry in the blazing sun, in the tumble dryer or on the radiator.
In the BabyBox, we use Disana's wool shampoo. It's particularly mild and ideal for all natural wool.
With our Joha products, we have had good experiences washing them at 30 degrees on a wool cycle. (but we do not assume any guarantee)
