PURE PURE hats provide good to very good UV protection. Testing is conducted according to the internationally recognized Australia-New Zealand standard, commonly used for clothing and accessories. The effective defense against harmful UV rays is achieved through the fabric's weave and processing, without the use of chemical additives. The denser the fabric and the deeper the color, the higher the protection against UV rays.

Our recommendation to always read the care instructions in the respective garments, the special composition of the manufacturer and the origin of the materials often require individual care.
Cotton is soft and gentle on the skin. It is durable and easy to care for. High temperatures and the mechanical stress of the washing machine cannot harm cotton. However, incorrect care can damage the robust cotton fibers. Because cotton must not automatically be washed at high temperatures. Please always follow the respective recommendations on the care label.
Every piece of clothing behaves differently, so we advise you to sort the laundry, white cotton items such as bed linen, towels and socks can withstand up to 90 degrees Celsius in the normal wash cycle of the washing machine. Clothing such as jeans, tops and shirts should not be washed at temperatures above 40 degrees. Clothing is often not made of 100% cotton, but is mixed with other materials such as elastane. You should always wash cotton mix fabrics at a low temperature.

Children have finer and more sensitive skin that reacts quickly to harmful UV rays. Effective sun protection prevents sunburn and reduces the risk of long-term skin damage.
UPF stands for "Ultraviolet Protection Factor". It indicates how much UV radiation (both UVB and UVA) a fabric allows to pass through to the skin. The number after UPF, such as UPF50, indicates that only 1 out of every 50 rays of sunlight penetrates the fabric. The higher the number, the greater the protection.
SPF (Sun Protection Factor):
Is mainly used in sun creams. It measures how much longer you can stay in the sun before you get sunburnt - but usually only works against UVB rays. In addition, SPF can quickly lose its protection through sweating or bathing.
UPF:
Measures the protection of fabrics (such as those used in summer hats) against both UVA and UVB rays. Since the protection is built into the material, it is largely retained even after frequent use and washing.
UPF protection is built into textiles by either choosing materials that are naturally UV-resistant or by adding special UV-protective agents or coatings to the fabric during production or in the post-treatment process. Alternatively, a tight weave can be used to prevent UV rays from penetrating.
Products with UPF are specially designed to largely retain their protection even after repeated washing. This is achieved either by a special treatment of the fabric surface or by a dense fabric structure that guarantees permanent UV protection. Nevertheless, it is important to follow the care instructions to ensure the optimal effectiveness and longevity of the UPF protection.
